About the Photographer:
I like to shoot under difficult conditions; in low light, from a moving boat, up under a jungle canopy, or 80 feet beneath the waves. For ten years I shot underwater on film with mostly manual equipment, capturing the hidden creatures that most divers missed. (Look for high-res scans from my extensive collection of underwater images here early 2010.)
Because Wildlife Doesn't Pose
I seek out uncooperative subjects such as birds and small insects and free-range children. My subjects are often in motion, or only a few mm in size. Or both. If the critter has eyes I go for eye contact. I try to bring the wildlife techniques that I learned underwater to my above-the-surface digital photography today.
My portfolio includes birds, insects, spiders and snakes, lizards and salamanders, mammals, flowers, sunsets, rivers, rainbows, reflections and more including a large selection of closeup and macro photos. You'll also find images of kids at play and musicians at work, because it is all wildlife in some form!
